Mustang Route Trek
Mustang Route Trek: Trekking in one of the most remote areas in Nepal, Mustang offers vast Himalayan biodiversity with flora and fauna, sacred temples, shaligrams (fossilized shell), holy rivers, spiritual lakes and a remarkable landscape covered under 3,573 square km.
Bordering China and the Tibetan plateau on the northern side, Mustang is an ancient forbidden kingdom which sheltered the lofty mountains above 8000 meters like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. It is restricted to enter in upper Mustang route without acquiring special permit which aided its traditions to survive better and proper.
Trekking trail in upper Mustang was only opened to the foreigner in 1992. And can be visited throughout the year. Mustang has been connected via roadway from Kathmandu. One can hire a four-wheeler jeep and reach Mustang through off-road after crossing Beni. Similarly, Jomsom airport is the entry point via a flight from Pokhara.
