Langtang National Park is considered as the first Himalayan National Park and fourth of 12 National Parks in Nepal which covers an area of 1,710 square km. The giant peak of this park is Langtang Lirung (7,245m). Beside the Himalayas, trekking in Langtang Region equally provide an opportunity to explore the various types of trees like Rhododendron (Nepal's national flower), Oak, Maple, and Pine. The park inhabitant the animals like Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan Tahr, Rhesus Monkey, and Red Pandas. The southern border of the park lies only 32 km north of the Kathmandu Valley.
The nearest entry or exit point for Langtang regions trekking is located just 1 hour 30 minutes driving distance from Kathmandu. The place is popularly known as Sundarijal which means beautiful aqua. Rest points are Dhunche and Syabru Besi (7/8 hours driving distance from Kathmandu).
